DMK man, 3 others held in assault case

A local DMK functionary and three others here were today arrested on the charge of detaining and beating up the manager of hardware shop when he came to collect Rs 2.5 lakh dues, police said.

Kathiravan, a DMK leader and real estate businessman, his wife, son and car driver were arrested on a complaint by Suresh, manager of the shop in Rasipuram in Namakkal District.

According to police, Kathiravan had made purchases of cement and iron rods worth Rs 2.5 lakh from the shop and gave a cheque. As the cheque was returned for want of cash, the shop manager came to collect the money yesterday.
 

The four and Kathiravan's another son beat him up and locked him in thir house and released him only in the night.

Police arrested the four and produced them before a court which sent them to 15 days judicial remand.
