DMK's Puducherry unit

today demanded a CBI probe into "irregularities" in allotment of seats under Puducherry government quota.

Party unit Convenor M.A.S.Subramanian said in a release here that incidents of "irregularities in admission of ineligible candidates"' under government quota had come to the fore recently.

Candidates who had not been residents here for a minimum of five years as is prescribed by the rules had been able to get residence certificates and gained admission. Similarly children of Central government employees, who had not been working for at least a year, had also got admission with the parents submitting fake certificates of their period of service in the Union Territory,he alleged.

These "irregularities" had taken place during the last few years and the Lt Governor should order a CBI probe so that students, who genuinely belong to Puducherry would be able to get the seats in accordance with their qualification, he said.
