Alleging police excesses during the Jallikattu protests, DMK working president M K Stalin today urged Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to set up a judicial commission of inquiry headed by a sitting High Court judge to look into it.

Alleging police excesses, Stalin who is also the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly said, "Police resorted to attack and indulged in excesses in the peaceful protests held in a democratic manner for Jallikattu."

The senior DMK leader called on Governor Rao at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum seeking inquiry into the alleged police excesses.

He also stated that the action taken by police to disperse the protesters in several cities including Marina beach here and at Alanganallur in Madurai District has led to "law and order problems."

"In all cities including Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai, police blindly attacked the agitators resulting in them getting injured seriously," he alleged.
