DMRC named interim consultant for Lucknow metro project

Uttar Pradesh government today appointed Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as the interim consultant for the preliminary works of ambitious Lucknow metro rail project.

A decision in this regard was taken in a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, an official spokesman said.

Proposals were sought from expert organisations, including RITES and DMRC, he said.

While RITES offer was worth Rs 19.5 crore, DMRC'S was of Rs 13 crore and also because it (DMRC) is a specialist body involved in metro works and linked to the Lucknow project by preparing a DPR for the project, it has been appointed as the interim consultant, the spokesman said.
 

As interim consultant, DMRC would help in selection of general consultant, preparing detailed proposal for land acquisition, preparing environment impact report and rehabilitation policy, he said.

DMRC would also provide assistance in carrying out detailed surveys for technical works, acquiring no objection certificates from various departments,appointment of consultant for preparing detailed designs and plan for civil structure and preparing tender document and selection of agency among others.

The Cabinet also gave its nod for the modalities of construction of Agra inner ring road on PPP model. The 22.50 km long inner ring road worth Rs 743.75 crore would have a bridge over Yamuna, a railway over-bridge among others, the spokesman said.

Besides, the cabinet also approved the Molassas policy for 2012-2013, he added.
