Rapper DMX surprised a group of homeless men by stopping by a support group in Pennsylvania and sharing a few words of advice.

The "Slippin'" hitmaker was in Philadelphia ahead of his performance at fellow hip-hop star Meek Mill's concert and he decided to use his spare time for good.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, DMX reached out to Councilman Kenyatta Johnson to organise the visit, during which he offered up his support to members of the Ready, Willing & Able Philadelphia group.

The rapper, who has battled his own addiction troubles and legal issues in the past, urged the men to stand firm in their principles and keep their faith in God as they worked their way back to social acceptance.

He wrapped up the meeting by eating dinner with the group and playing pool.
