A local court today acquitted a doctor who was accused of performing hernia operation in a rash and negligent manner which caused the death of a 35-year-old man.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Randhir Verma, while delivering his verdict in the case, observed that the prosecution failed to proved its case beyond reasonable doubts.
According to the public prosecutor, the accused Dr. Randeep Singh Rana, who was running the hospital here, had conducted the hernia operation on Ashwini Kumar on April 28, 2011. However, the victim died during the operation.

A case was registered under section 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC.
Later, the accused filed a revision petition before the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the case was changed to 304-A (causing death by negligence) of IPC.
