Doctor, agent held for conducting sex-determination tests

A doctor and his agent have been arrested for allegedly conducting sex-determination tests in the district, the police said today.

The accused--Shah Alam and his agent Subhash Chand--were arrested following a raid at their medical facility at Charthawal police station area yesterday, they said.

The duo was booked under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, Nodal Officer

S K Aggarwal said.

The police also seized machines and Rs 30,000 in cash from the unit run by the accused.
