The police booked two employees of the municipal corporation-run Chattrapati Shivaji Hospital at Kalwa after the recent death of a just born child whose mother was driven out of the hospital for want of money, police sources said here today.
Police sub-inspector Sachin Ambre of the Kalwa police station told PTI today evening that doctor Savita Upad and nurse Meenaxi Sonar have been booked under Section 304 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
In a related development, doctor Savita Upad has also been suspended after a hue and cry by activists.

It was on the night of March 10, that a couple, namely Gangaram Gode and Sharada Gode, came to the hospital after the pregnant lady developed labour pains.
However, the doctor and nurse allegedly demanded Rs 800 from them which they could not pay, after which they were driven out of the hospital, according to the complaint lodged by Gangaram Gode.
As they walked along the road towards Mumbra, Sharada Gode ended up delivering on the street at night and were helped by a rickshaw driver who took them to Mumbra station.
In the morning, the child was found dead and the issue sparked off a row after political parties cashed in on the incident and came down heavily on the hospital management.
The Gode couple had come down to Kalyan in search of job, but had lost their bag and baggage during travel.
