Baliram Shinde, a city-based doctor arrested for carrying out illegal abortions and sex determination tests, died at the Nashik Road Central Jail early morning today.
Shinde suffered a cardiac arrest, said the jail superintendent Ramesh Kamble.
The body was sent to the Nashik civil hospital for autopsy, he told PTI.
Shinde, who ran clinics in Nashik and nearby Ojhar, was arrested about two weeks ago. He was in judicial custody.
