A doctor has been arrested for allegedly pushing his wife, whom he suspected to be into an extra-marital affair, from the second floor of a building at southeast Delhi's Siddharth Enclave area, police said today.

The accused, identified as Jeetu Mishra, is a physiotherapist by profession and has his clinic at Nizamuddin area, said a police officer.

The incident was reported on Tuesday, when the doctor found his wife, identified as Meenakshi, talking to someone over phone. He alleged that she was talking to her paramour and tried to snatch the device. This led to a scuffle between the two, said an official.

The scuffle led the two to the balcony of their second-floor apartment, from where the doctor allegedly pushed the woman and she fell over a car parked below.

The doctor informed his brother and fled the scene.

It was the doctor's brother who rushed the woman to the hospital and informed the police. Meenakshi suffered fractures on her leg and is presently reported to be in a stable condition, said an official.

In her complaint, she told the police that her husband allegedly pushed her from the balcony and he also used to subject her to cruelty.

A case was registered under relevant sections of the law and the doctor was arrested by a police team today.
