Doctor arrested for stocking de-addiction medicines

Police today arrested a doctor of a private hospital at Khanna in Punjab for allegedly stocking medicines used for drug de-addiction.

Dr Ashish Sharma was arrested with a heavy stock of tablets being used for de-addiction, police said.

The accused had no license of de-addiction centre as required by law and 9,000 tablets had been recovered from his possession, police said.

A case had been registered against the doctor under relevant sections of the IPC.

During preliminary investigation, he admitted that he had been selling this medicine to drug addicts at very high rates for the past one year, police said, adding further probe was going on.
