A doctor who had refused to
go to visit one patient leaving his chamber full of patients has been assaulted by a group in Howrah district, according to an FIR lodged by the medical practitioner today.
Police said a person named Dilip Singh had come to Dr Asaulla Ansari's chamber at Shalimar area on Monday evening and asked him to accompany him to attend a patient.
Ansari refused to go as his chamber was full of patients and asked Singh to bring the patient to his chamber.
At this, Singh slapped him, the police said adding the doctor then complained to the local councillor.
Because of this 'audacity', Singh and his men assaulted the doctor last night and he was hospitalised.
Nobody was arrested.
