Doctor beaten up by patient's kin; PMSA takes stand against it

Relatives of a patient brutally thrashed a doctor and vandalised a private hospital in Allahabad following the patient's death, police said today.

The Provincial Medical Services Association (PMSA) has taken a strong stand on the doctor's beating that took place yesterday and has demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

"The patient was terminally ill and the doctor attended him even then the bad elements vandalised the hospital," President of PMSA Ashok Yadav said.

If the culprits are not arrested within 24 hours, then we will call an urgent meeting of the association tomorrow and take stern decision," Yadav told PTI.
 

He said that such incident was against the Medical Protection Law.

The manner in which the doctors were being attacked would create an atmosphere of terror and the patients would be ultimately suffer, he added.
