Two persons were charred to death and as many injured when a car caught fire after a dumper collided with it on the highway in Shahjadpur village in Kanpur Dehat district, police said today.
The incident occurred yesterday when Dr Brijendra Verma (30), a resident of New Delhi, Dr Tushar Marwadi (32) from Nagpur, and Dr Vaibhav Jain (35) from Kota in Rajasthan, were on their way to Lucknow from New Delhi in a rented car to appear in an examination at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, police said.
A dumper which entered the highway from wrong direction rammed into the car. The gas kit of the vehicle exploded leading to fire, they said.

The locals informed police who rushed to the spot and brought them out of the car but Dr Vaibhav succumbed to the injuries on the spot while the driver was charred to death inside it, they said.
The injured were rushed to a hospital while the bodies were sent for postmortem, they said.
Efforts were on to establish the identity of deceased driver, they said.
An FIR has been registered in the matter, they said, adding that search is on to nab the accused dumper driver.
