Doctor duped of Rs 7 lakh

A person has been booked for duping a doctor of Rs 7 lakh here in the guise of BSNL General Manager at Arashi Gate area here, police said today.

According to a complaint lodged by Dr Suresh Jain, a person visited him at his nursing home on May 30 and introduced himself as Ramesh Prajapati, GM of BSNL in charge of Rohtak and Jind area with 823 people working under him, they said.

The person said that BSNL gives Rs 2,100 for medical checkup of every employee. If Dr Jain gave Rs 7 lakh, then he would give a check of Rs 17,28,300 for the medical check up of the employees, police said.
 

Lured by the proposal, Dr Jain gave Rs 7 lakh to the person, who in turn gave the check to him and asked him to encash it after some days, they said, adding but when the doctor went to encash the check, he found it to be fake.

A case has been registered against the so called Ramesh Prajapati, GM of BSNL under various sections of the IPC and investigation is underway, police said.
