Jewellery and other valuables were allegedly looted from a doctor's house by three robbers who entered the premises on the pretext of getting a patient treated, police said today.

Circle Officer Pavitra Mohan Tripathi said the incident took place in Krishna Nagar here late last night.

The robbers, one of whom acted as a patient and the other two as attendants, knocked on the door of Dr Manish Prakash's government quarter near PHC Hospital at Krishna Nagar.

They had requested Dr Prakash to open the door for treating the patient. As soon as Prakash opened the door, he was hit on the head by a country-made pistol and injured.

The robbers then tied the doctor and his wife to a chair and looted the house. After the loot, they bolted the door from outside and fled.

Later, Prakash somehow untied himself and raised the alarm.

He told the police that all the accused were youths and they looted jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh, some cash, a tablet, a camera and a mobile phone from his house.

Tripathi said police teams are searching for the accused.
