Acting on the orders of Allahabad High Court, Uttar Pradesh Government has transferred station in-charge and other policemen of Swaroop Nagar police station where striking doctors were allegedly beaten up by police.

Station officer Rakesh Yadav of Swaroop Nagar police station has been transfered to neighbouring Kanpur Dehat district, Kanpur Police DIG R K Chaturvedi said, adding other police officers from that station have also been transferred.

The Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College falls under the jurisdiction of Swarup Nagar police station.

Junior doctors of the Medical College were on a six-day long strike, which ended on March 6, to protest against arrest of 24 of their colleagues in connection with a clash between them, supporters of SP MLA Irrfan Solanki and the police.

Medical College authorities have also installed CCTV cameras in the institute for security purpose and to ensure no untoward incident takes place.

Acting on the court order, Kanpur SSP Yashaswi Yadav was also transferred on March 6.
