A 38-year-old doctor was shot dead in broad daylight by some motorcycle-borne assailants in Safidon area here, following which family members of the victim and locals protested by blocking traffic in the town.

Manish Garg, working as a private doctor with Geetaram Memorial Hospital here, was shot dead by some assailants yesterday, police said, adding an old enmity can be the reason behind the murder.

Family members and irate locals, including doctors, today protested against the killing and besides blocking traffic on the Hansi branch bridge, they also blocked the railway track for thirty minutes.

According to protesters, the assailants had made two unsuccessful attempts to murder the medical practitioner in the past.

They burnt the effigies of Haryana government and police administration, protesting the deteriorating law and order situation in the town.

SDM Premchand reached the spot with other officials and informed the people of the arrest of two accused in the case, following which they ended their protest, police said.

Five teams have been formed to nab main accused Narendra Babu and his accomplices, police said.
