A city doctor today urged the Health department to cancel the licence given to a pharmaceutical company which had distributed stents used in angioplasty procedure for heart patients, after the expiry period.
The doctor Saravan said the Manager of his hospital who checked the stent stock found that dates given in the box and supply dates differed and the validity period for the stent was over.
A private firm had supplied the stent.

He charged that the company planned to make a heavy profit by selling old stocks of the stents which would affect the patients.
He said he had given complaint about the company to the Deputy Director of health services. But the company had threatened him, he alleged. He had given a police complaint also against the company. The health department should examine the stents and take sever action against the company for supplying stents for which expiry date was over.
