A local court here today granted anticipatory bail to two doctors of a private nursing home who were accused of leaving behind a pair of scissors (artery forceps) in the abdomen of a woman after conducting hysterectomy on her four years ago.

The accused doctors had conducted hysterectomy on the victim in 2010 after which she had been continually having trouble in the abdomen. The artery forceps were removed from the abdomen of the woman on Monday.

The Mangalore East Police Station had registered a case of medical negligence against the two doctors.

While the police tried to arrest them, both the doctors appeared before court and secured bail.

Police said they have recorded the statement of the surgeon who removed the rusted forceps from the body of the victim.

The condition of the patient is stable, sources said.
