'Doctors who conduct sex determination tests need counselling'

Expressing concern over female foeticide, Maharashtra governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao today called for counselling of doctors who conduct sex-determination tests.

Speaking at a UNICEF programme here, Rao said counselling of doctors may prevent the tests which sometimes lead of female foeticide.

Maharashtra branch of UNICEF should reach out to the poor children in the state through its various programmes and serve as a bridge between the government and the people, he said.

Rao was speaking at the digital launch of UNICEF's 'State of the World's Children' report at Raj Bhavan here, an official release said.
