A dog was today found dragging the body of a just-born baby girl with the umbilical cord intact before being chased away by horrified locals near a colony here.
Most portions of the head and chest were mutilated but the umbilical cord was intact, police said.
Police suspect that the child may be illegitimate and the mother must have thrown the baby away immediately after delivery and the infant might have died in the process.
