With installation of 100 screens in the last one year, Dolby Atmos is hopeful of sustaining the growth and even cross 100 in the coming one year, a top official said today.

"The company can beat the growth rate of last one year, since momentum is very strong, as more filmmakers are adopting its audio system for production," said Dolby Laboratories Senior Director Maketing, India, South-East Asia and Australia, Ashim Mathur.

Stating that more than 300 screens are now under Dolby platform in the country, Mathur told reporters that South India alone has 100 screens, with Tamil Nadu accounting for 80, the highest in the country.

He said blockbuster Baahubali-2, Kabali and Vivegam are among the films that have used Dolby Atmos in their production. Rajinikanth's 'Shivaji the Boss' was the first film in India to be released with Dolby Atmos, he added.

On investment to instal Dolby Atmos, he said it varied from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35 lakh per screen, he said.

"The growth in Dolby Atmos has been much faster than that of 'Dolby Surround Sound," Mathur said.

Among the nearly 10,000 screens in the country, around 2,700 screens are equipped to play high-end digital movies, Mathur said.
