Ajit Kumar, a native of Madhubani district in Bihar, was taken into custody from New Delhi Railway Station when he was about to board a train to his home state.

The action came on a complaint filed by Naresh Choudhary, a resident of Safdarjung Enclave in New Delhi, that his cook Ajit had stolen Rs 30,000 in cash and two mobile phones from his house.

During the course of investigation, a team was sent to Bhogal to make enquiries from the existing placement agencies to get any clue about accused Ajit.

Since there was a possibility that accused might have escaped to Bihar, teams were sent to inter-state bus terminal and railway stations along with the family members of complainant to identify the servant.

Police launched intensive searches for Ajit at the New Delhi Railway Station and finally apprehended him when was about to leave Delhi for his native village.

Rs 24,000 in cash and two mobile phones were recovered from his possession, a senior police official said.

During interrogation, he confessed that he had stolen the money as his sister's delivery who is residing in Bihar is due and his earning was not sufficient to cater to the daily needs of his family.
