A 24-year-old domestic help and his aide were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stealing ornaments and valuables worth Rs 62 lakh from the residence of his employer doctor in suburban Jogeshwari last month, police said.
According to police the accused Sanjeev Rey had allegedly committed the crime on June 13 when the complainant, Dr Sukhwinder Singh Duggal, was away in Bangkok with his family for a marriage.
During investigation, Amboli police received a tip-off that Rey might have fled to Bihar or Chandigarh, following which two teams were dispatched to both the locations, an official said.
Rey was picked up from Kurali in Chandigarh along with stolen property, he said, adding that police also arrested his relative Anil Ray (31) from another village who had kept a share of the booty.
A court remanded them in police custody till Friday.
