Jharkhand state government employees, irrespective of their ranks, can tour anywhere in the country twice during their tenure in service on government expenses along with their families, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced here today.

A decision in this regard was taken during the cabinet meeting held in Ranchi on Monday, he said while inaugurating a new building of the commercial tax department here.

"We have decided to gift the state government employees... Irrespective of their ranks including senior or junior or a peon, they can go on tour anywhere in the country twice during their service period along with their families," he said adding the government would bear the expenses.

Till now such facilities were only available to IAS and IPS officers, he said.

"The state government employees don't lack efficiency, but need a conducive atmosphere and facilities to exhibit their mettle," Soren said while appreciating the facilities available in the new building.

The Chief Minister assured that his government would make efforts to address the aspirations of the employees as well as the people of the state.

Appreciating the role of government employees in the functioning of the government, Soren said the state government has made a sincere effort to address all aspects which had remained untouched even during the times of undivided Bihar.

M R Meena, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Commercial Department, said on the occasion that the Jamshedpur circle of the department was an important one as it contributed one third of the total generated revenue, but had been lacking facilities.

"Jamshedpur circle alone collected Rs 2,300 crore and can perform better with the upgraded facilities in the new building including library, conference hall and decode room etc," he said adding, the department has plan to create a corporate circle in Jamshedpur and Ranchi for industries on the pattern of the one which already existed in Dhanbad for the coal sector.
