Activist group Sisters Uncut, which works for the survivors of domestic violence, gatecrashed the BAFTA red carpet to protest Prime Minister Theresa May's domestic violence bill. Members of the feminist direct action group linked arms on the red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall. They were wearing T-shirts with the slogan "Time's Up, Theresa". The members were led away by the police after some minutes. In a statement, the group said their protest was against the proposed bill, reported the Guardian. "Sisters Uncut say that these measures skirt the government's responsibility to support all survivors of domestic violence, leaving them locked up in prison, locked out of refuges, and locked in to violent relationships," the statement said. The group had carried out a similar protest during the 2015 premiere of "Suffragette" The awards this year have gone political with female stars donning the black as part of the Time's Up movement, which highlights sexism and gender inequality in cinema in the wake of sexual harassment scandals that rocked Hollywood recently.
