Authorities in the Dominican Republic have arrested a prosecutor and several police officers accused of not reporting the seizure of more than a ton of cocaine that has since disappeared.
General Prosecutor Francisco Dominguez says the cocaine was seized in September near Santo Domingo but was never turned over to authorities.
He told TV station Colorvision late yesterday that authorities are investigating whether the drug was returned for a bribe or whether the suspects sold it themselves.
