Don't burst crackers near power infra: BSES to consumers

A misplaced electric spark from a firecracker can ignite a fire in installations like grids, sub-stations and transformers, a BSES official said.

In case a grid catches fire, power supply of around one lakh consumers can be affected. In case, a 33/66 KV overhead line is affected, power supply to around 10,000 consumers can be affected, the official said.

As per the Electricity Act, causing damage to the power infrastructure is an offence.

The BSES has over 28 lakh consumer in the city.

The official said teams from Operations and Maintenance (O&M) wing have been put on a high alert to take care of any eventuality.
