Telangana Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar today urged his party's central leadership not to include two districts from Rayalaseema in the proposed new state in view of opposition from political parties.
"Don't include the two districts (Ananthapur and Kurnool). Don't say Rayala-Telangana. Please execute as per the earlier decision by UPA or CWC or Union cabinet," he told a press conference here.
The move to carve out the new state with 12 districts is being opposed by the people of Rayalaseema and Telangana and all political parties, he said, adding that they wanted only a Telangana comprising 10 districts.
He said Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha has written a letter to the GoM, which is looking into the bifurcation process of Andhra Pradesh, favouring exclusion of the two districts.
