Double gold in women's double trap for Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh's women double trap exponents Shalini Yashwant and Manisha Keer clinched the senior and junior gold medals, respectively, in the 59th National Shooting Championship here today.

Shalini beat seasoned India internationals Shreyasi Singh of Bihar and Shagun Chowdhary of ONGC to win the title. She finished with a score of 89 to Shreyasi's 86 and Shagun's 85 to turn the tables from last year when she had bagged the silver medal while Shagun had won gold and Shreyasi the bronze.

In what turned out be double delight for MP, Keer won the junior women's double trap with a score of 80. Aliana Ashim Paul of Maharashtra won the silver, shooting a total of 70, while N Nivetha of Tamil Nadu bagged the bronze with a score of 67.
 

Madhya Pradesh also won the women's team double trap gold thanks to the exploits of Shalini and Manisha at the JDA Shooting Range.

In the men's double trap, Ahvar Rizvi of Uttar Pradesh and Bhowneesh Mendiratta of Haryana reached both the men's and junior men's finals scheduled to be held tomorrow. Md Asab (UP), Ankur Mittal (Haryana) and Sangram Dahiya (Haryana) are the India international stars who will also feature in the men's finals.
