An accused in a double murder case here has been arrested by police today.
Amritsar (Rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jasdeep Singh said that accused Mukhwinder Singh was nabbed today at his village Jhander along with .32 bore calibre pistol and ten live cartridges.
Last evening, two people were shot dead in a busiest market Putlighar here.
Assailants came to a shop and demanded money, on being refused they shot Ankush (23), who was married just three days back, police said. He was declared brought dead in a nearby hospital.
When assailants were fleeing, they met an accident with a rickshaw puller and also killed him.
Residents and shopkeepers of the area staged a stir today and raised anti police slogans, demanding arrest of the accused.
People called off stir when police told them that one of the accused was nabbed and another would be arrested shortly as he has been identified.
