Oscar-nominated director James Toback has been accused of sexual harassment by 38 women, who have come on record to talk about their ordeal in a news report.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the 72-year-old director sexually harassed women he hired, women looking for work and women he just saw on the street.
Many women claimed that the director approached them on the streets of New York City and promised stardom.
During his meetings with women, Toback boasted of his sexual endeavours with the famous celebrities and would ask them "humiliating personal questions". He would then proceed to inappropriate sexual behaviour in front of them, the report said.
None of the women, 38 in total who were interviewed by the LA Times, had approached the police.
Toback, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1991 for Warren Beatty starrer "Bugsy", denied the accusations, saying he never met any of the women mentioned in the report.
He said it was "biologically impossible" for him to engage in the behaviour described in the report, and claimed that he had diabetes and a heart condition that required medication.
The allegations against Toback come weeks after the New York Times and The New Yorker expose of Harvey Weinstein.
Many women, including celebrities such as Lupita Nyong'o, Lena Headey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Cara Delevingne, have since come forward to accuse the Hollywood producer of sexually harassing them.
