Chennai-based Dr Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre plans to open 15 more clinics across the country in the current fiscal.

The company that recently raised USD 10.23 million (around Rs 66 crore) currently has 25 clinics in India.

"We plan to have a total of 40 centres by the end of financial year 2017-18. We plan to add between 15 to 20 centres every year," Dr Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre Chairman V Mohan told PTI.

"We will be predominantly expanding in the four southern states with a few more centres planned in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. We are also looking to expand in Lucknow, Kolkata and other cities in West Bengal, Guwahati and Siliguri in Assam," Mohan said.

When asked how the company plans to fund the expansion, he said: "The expansion will be funded by the money that we have raised recently through private equity funding. The majority of these funds will be used in setting-up new centres."

The aim is to bring the best of diabetes care to centres across India, particularly to states and districts where specialised diabetes services are not available currently, he added.
