A dreaded criminal from Bihar, wanted in over 40 cases of murder, kidnapping and extortion, was arrested here by a combined team of the state and Uttarakhand Special Task Force personnel, a senior police official said today.
Shambhu Singh was arrested from Indranagar area of the city last night from a hideout where he had been living since 2004 after assuming the name of Santosh Mishra, Uttarakhand STF SSP Senthil Avoodai Krishna Raj told PTI.
Singh, who hails from Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, carried a reward of Rs 1,00,000 on his head and was wanted in 42 criminal cases including those of robbery, murder, kidnapping and extortion, the official said.
The Bihar STF today took Singh on transit remand to Patna, he said, adding, the history sheeter had been on the run for many years.
