Dreaded poacher nabbed in Assam

A dreaded poacher allegedly involved in recent poaching of a rhino in Kaziranga National Park was nabbed by forest officials in Panbazar area of Guwahati today.

The poacher, identified as Yakub Ali, was apprehended by a team of forest personnel of the Park's Northern range, Range officer Pranjal Baruah said.

Ali was the prime accused in poaching of Sildubi rhino in Kaziranga National Park on May 29 last.

He was absconding in connection with another case of rhino poaching in 2014 for which he was chargesheeted by the CBI and denied bail.

A massive search was launched to nab him and he was today arrested near Meghdoot Bhawan in Panbazar area of Guwahati.
