Workers of Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) today went on a one-day strike amid reports of stake sale by the government in the company.
"Non-executive employees of the company working on shore side were on strike and did not attend office. However, there was no disruption of any nature of day to day working of the company," DCI said in a filing to the BSE.
It said there was no impact of the strike on operations of DCI vessels and all operational vessels are in uninterrupted dredging operations.
There were no untoward incidents in any of the offices of the company or onboard vessels, it added.
The company yesterday had said that unions representing the "non-executives and crew and petty officers of the Dredging Corporation of India Ltd" had given call for one-day strike on April 11 in protest against rumours of strategic sale of DCI.
It had said that the Regional Labour Commissioner (Central) conducted conciliation proceedings on strike notice issued by the Union and had advised the unions not to go on strike since the matter was under conciliation.
Any strike during the pendency of conciliation proceedings is prohibited and is illegal, the commissioner had said.
