Drive against power theft to start tomorrow in Mathura

In adherence to the state government's plan to provide 24 hours power supply from October, 2015, in Uttar Pradesh, the district administration will launch a drive against power theft from tomorrow.

The drive, that would go on till January 28, will check power theft in the district, with an aim to reducing line losses.

"While 21 teams have been formed for the rural area, six teams have been formed for the city area for checking the power theft and other irregularities," District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar said.

A rally in different areas will be held to spread awareness about the prevalent problem, he said.
 

"New connections would also be given provided the consumer deposits his ID proof and no objection certificate of the landlord," the official said.

While old, China-make meters, semi-electronic meters would be replaced, load increasing facility along with payment of the arrears would also be ensured during the drive, he added.
