Driver dies as WagonR car catches fire

A 40-year-old man was charred to death today when the WagonR car he was driving caught fire near Derol village in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district, around 85 kms away from here, police said.

The deceased, identified as Paresh Desai, was the only occupant of the car, they said.

"Desai was driving the car when it suddenly burst into flames due to unknown reasons. Desai died as he could not escape from the burning car," a Himmatnagar (Rural) police station official said.

Desai, a financier by profession, was headed towards his hometown Himmatnagar from Vijapur in Mehsana district.

A case of accidental death was registered at Himmatnagar (Rural) police station, he said, adding that Desai's body was handed over to his family members.
