Driver held with 6 kilos of explosives

A driver was arrested after a joint search party of Police and Army recovered six kilograms of explosives of a passenger vehicle during a checking here, police said today.

Police and troops of Rashtriya Rifles intercepted a cab near the SRTC Yard at Bemina Bypass last night and recovered the explosive material concealed in 63 packets from the vehicle, a police spokesman said.

He said a special joint 'naka' had been laid in the area following a tip-off.

The driver of the vehicle identified as, Hilal Ahmad Sanoo from Srinagar's Chanapora, was taken into custody for questioning, the spokesman said.
 

He said a case has been registered at the Parimpora Police Station and further investigations are on.
