Driver injured as stones pelted on train in UP

A train driver was today injured when some unidentified persons pelted stones on New Delhi-Maduadeeh superfast express, a railway officer said here.

The incident occurred Between Sarai Jagdeesh and Bhiti railway stations of North Eastern Railway (NER) when the unidentified persons pelted stones on the train in which windshield of the engine was damaged injuring assistant driver Anil Kumar, Gyanpur station master A K Verma said.

He said later the head driver brought the train to Gyanpur at 11.22 am, from where it departed at 2.22 pm with the help of another driver.

The station master said the train was stranded for three and a half hours due to the incident.
 

Train guard Achche Lal Singh Yadav lodged an FIR at GRP outpost Madhosingh in this regard.
