A 27-year-old driver was today remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a local court for the alleged rape of a minor girl student in Kalimpong on Sunday.
The Kalimpong court sent the driver, Bikram Yogi, to jail, who was charged under section 376 (rape) of IPC and Section 4 of The Protection of Children From Sexual Harassment Act, 2012.
Police sources said that the driver, a neighbour, picked up the 15-year-old girl from three mile area and took her to Malli Labarbotey where he allegedly raped her and then dropped her at Goskhan.
The girl narrated her ordeal to her parents after which a police complaint was filed.
Bikram was subsequently arrested.
