Driver killed after vehicle collides with another truck

A truck driver was charred to death when his vehicle collided with a stationary truck and caught fire on Delhi-Haridwar highway, police said today.

The mishap occurred last night when the meat-laden truck, coming from Muzaffarnagar area, dashed into the stationary truck near Dashrathpur village. The truck immediately caught fire after the collision, M S Beg, Rural Superintendent of Police said.

The cleaner of the moving truck was rescued but the driver got struck inside, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Saharanpur resident Bhola and the cleaner as Riyazuddin Islam, they said, adding the meat was being transported from a slaughter house Gagalhedi area to Ghaziabad.
