The driver of the Pune-Indore express averted a possible mishap yesterday near Palej area in the district, Government Railway Police (GRP) officials said today.

The alert driver of the Pune-Indore express, while en-route to Indore, applied brake as he saw a cement sleeper lying on the track near Palej area, around 60 kms from here, thereby averting a possible derailment, assistant sub- inspector at GRP, Bharuch police station, Rafiq said.

Meanwhile, Western Railway, Vadodara division official P S Gill said that the driver after applying brake, heard some noise emerging out from the engine. He then checked it and after inspecting, found no major damage.
