Driver stops train after detecting smoke in bogie

A major train disaster was averted today when the driver of an express train stopped it after detecting smoke in a bogie in Balasore district, police said.

The driver of Chennai bound Coromandel Express suddenly stopped the train at Rupsa Railway Station, about 12 km from here after detecting smoke. Water was applied to douse the smoke and the train was delayed for 37 minutes," Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer at Balasore, Azmin Mirza said.

"No damage has been caused to any passenger," Mirza said, adding that the train was brought to Balasore station and thoroughly checked before it left for the destination.
