DriveU, an on-demand driver service, has launched a service that allows customers to hire drivers for their weekend getaways and vacations.

The company, which offers services in Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, currently allows users to hire drivers on the go for a maximum of 12 hours within city limits.

"DriveU is now introducing 'Outstation service' whereby customers can avail the same, highly-regarded professional partner-drivers for multi-day travels for weekend getaways and vacations," DriveU said in a statement.

For outstation trips, customers will be charged Rs 1,199 per day and Rs 599 for a fractional day.

"One can now truly enjoy weekends rather than navigate through treacherous road travel or deal with annoying drivers. With our mobile app coupled with seamless technology, our customers can now enjoy a high quality experience with safe, transparent and reliable rides even on outstation trips," DriveU co-founder and COO Ashok Shastry said.

He added 20 per cent of the daily queries were for outstation service when the company offered only intra-city on-demand driver service.

Since soft launch in March, DriveU has completed over 200 outstation trips to date, he added.

In February, the company had raised funds from Unitus Seed Fund.

DriveU caters to people who own cars but prefer to hire a driver for their journeys. It has over 350 partner-drivers in the four cities of operations. It plans to double this number within the next three months and have 1,000 partner-drivers by the end of 2016.
