As part of security measures for Ramzan processions in the sensitive old city area, the district administration today used a drone camera surveillance system here which revealed the presence of objectionable items in 28 houses.

"For making better security arrangements for the upcoming 19th and 21st Ramzan processions (on June 25 and 27), the district administration and police have deployed two drones for advanced route check and surveillance. During the process, objectionable items were found in 28 houses in Chowk and Bazar Khala areas," District Magistrate Rajshekar told reporters here.

He said the "objectionable" items mainly included bricks and a few iron objects, adding that notices will be sent to those concerned to remove these materials and cooperate with the administration.

The drones will be pressed into service on the procession days as well, said the DM.
