In an act of bravery, three NCC cadets today saved a middle-aged woman from drowning who was said to have jumped off DND flyover into the Yamuna river in an apparent suicide bid.
According to an official statement here, the incident occurred at around 11:30 A.M. As the NCC cadets of 2 Delhi Naval Unit under Delhi Directorate were on a routine training mission along with three boats, including a rescue boat.
During the exercise, the unit's 'Rescue and Safety boat', under the command of Petty Officer AK Sharma, noticed that a middle-aged lady had jumped into the Yamuna river from the DND flyover, the release added.

Seeing the lady about to drown, the rescue boat immediately rushed to her and three cadets, identified as Vikash, Ashish and Rahul, managed to pull the woman over into the rescue boat.
The incident was immediately reported by the unit control room.
The CO of the unit, Capt. (IN) RS Dahiya, along with one more staffer and boat operator, thereafter rushed to the scene of the incident in a second rescue boat.
"The lady was administered artificial respiration after which she regained consciousness. Police were informed about the incident. She has been handed over to the police team who came in a PCR Van," the statement added.
