Drug-and-loot gang busted in Kanpur

With the arrest of two persons, the Government Railway Police today claimed to have busted a drug-and-loot gang operating from Kanpur Central Railway Station.

On a tip-off, the two members, Gutthe alias Sahnawaj and Mehtab Alam who are residents of Kanpur, were arrested this morning from the railway station, GRP incharge Tripurari Pandey said.

Seventy grams of intoxicating drugs, a knife, and three mobile phones have been seized from them, he said.

Police had been on a lookout for a gang which used to loot passangers by offering them food laced with intoxicants, he said.

The two are being inquired about other members of their gang and an investigation is on, the GRP incharge said.
