Drug haul case: Boxer Ram Singh gets bail

A local court today granted bail to boxer Ram Singh who was arrested last month in connection with a recent drug haul case.

Special Judge Kuldip Singh ordered the release of Ram Singh on personal bond of Rs 20,000.

Punjab police had arrested boxer Ram Singh last month in connection with the recent recovery of huge quantity of heroin and other drugs in the state.

After arrest of an NRI Anoop Singh Kahlon police had busted an international drugs racket operating from the state, in which name of Olympic medal winner boxer Vijender Singh had also cropped up.

Ram Singh was head constable of Punjab police and was dismissed by police last month after his arrest in the case.
 

Police had alleged that Singh was consuming the heroin after taking the same from Anoop Singh Kahlon and Kulwinder Singh alias Rocky.

The result of blood, urine and hair samples of Ram Singh is awaited, police added.
